Emmett joined the Native Plant team in the summer of 2020 as a horticulture technician and has had a blast ever since. He first arrived in southeastern Arizona in the summer of 2016 to work a grape harvest on the Willcox bench and – deeply inspired by the challenges, characters and promise of making wine in this area – he moved to Sonoita the following spring to take over the cellar operations for the Pillsbury Wine Co., as well as assisting with production at Rune Wines and Deep Sky Vineyards. He shortly thereafter fell in love – both with the myriad variations of life and light out here, and a certain someone who was opening it all up to him – so much so that, barring a couple seasons’ departure to make wine in Galicia, Spain and chip away at completing his B.A. in Literary Arts (focusing on contemporary poetry) from Brown University, he can’t really imagine a better place to hang his hat.
