RAINWATER HARVESTING WORKSHOP SERIES

ABOUT

Harvesting rainwater is a simple and effective process of collecting, filtering, storing and using rainwater for various purposes to help reduce the use of groundwater.  With drought conditions across the west and the rapidly dropping water table that supplies the water that comes through the faucets in your home, using rainwater harvesting is an easy and highly effective way to lessen your water usage for such things as irrigation and gardening. There is no better time than now to learn about how you can make an impact at your home, school, or workplace by implementing rainwater harvesting.

This free workshop series is generously funded by the Wildlife Conservation Society as part of our Path of the Jaguar project and will focus on backyard rainwater harvesting strategies. Attendees will learn about best practices for simple rainwater harvesting, how to select appropriate rainwater harvesting systems, and about plant palettes to grow appropriate food, shade, or pollinator gardens.

​​Learn how to passively direct rainwater from rooftops and impervious surfaces – which can oftentimes lead to flooding - into a resource. Learn how to size and locate basins, how to select appropriate plants, and best practices in developing durable rainwater harvesting systems. 

To register, RSVP to cweaver@borderlandsrestoration.org. Class size limited to 15 people. Workshop will be indoors, as well as an outdoor walking tour at the rain gardens at the PYEC. Please wear a mask.

​BRN and UA WaterWise are excited to collaborate to teach this workshop to learn how to passively direct rainwater from rooftops and impervious surfaces – which can oftentimes lead to flooding - into a resource.

Learn how to size and locate basins, how to select appropriate plants, and best practices in developing durable rainwater harvesting systems.
