A. parryi var. huachucensis or “Huachuca Agave” is a drought tolerant native succulent that can grow to 3 ft before it flowers at 15-20 years old in a flower spike averaging 15 ft in height. It grows in full sun and well draining soil at 4,500-7,000 ft elevation. This species mounds or “pups” readily and found often in clusters or patches. It blooms in early summer and is also pollinated by nectar-feeding bats.
