Cirsium wheeleri or “Wheeler’s thistle” grows up to 4ft tall in pine-oak and juniper woodlands and wet meadows between 5000-9000ft. The deep purple flowers bloom June-October and support moths, native bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Plant in partial shade to full sun.
