Tithonia thurberi or “Arizona sunflowerweed” is an annual sunflower species that can grow up to 3ft tall and is found in rich soils, often at the edges of streams and ditches, in riparian and woodland habitats between 3000-4500 ft. The smaller, yellow flowers bloom August-October and are pollinated by native bees. It is also a larval host plant for butterfly and moth species, and its seeds provide food for birds and other wildlife. Plant in full sun to partial shade in well-draining soil.
