Claire's Bio
Claire Hartigan (She/They) is a Watershed Restoration Technician at Borderlands Restoration Network. She works within the Patagonia borderlands area, building erosion-control structures and surveying for future restoration projects, as well as spreading native seeds, monitoring at Borderlands Wildlife Preserve, removing invasive plants, and more.
Claire is a graduate of Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. She grew up just outside Patagonia in the San Rafael Valley, which led to her love for the borderlands region. Before joining BRN, Claire worked seasonally for Michigan's Department of Natural Resources, spending time with local botanists to collect and preserve native plant seeds and conduct other botany-related work. She also volunteered with groups such as Tucson Audubon and Watershed Management Group. Claire loves any type of outdoor recreation such as backpacking, hiking, and kayaking. She also loves riding and training horses and currently lives on a local ranch where she is about to welcome two newly adopted wild mustangs. When not enjoying outdoor activities, Claire enjoys reading and film photography.
