KARLA's Bio

As an Environmental Field Coordinator at Borderlands Restoration Network, Karla facilitates and develops education and outreach programs in borderlands communities across the Arizona-Sonora region. Karla is a University of Arizona alum and has a B.S in Public Management and Policy, and B.A in Spanish and Portuguese, concentrating on Environmental Policy and Latin American Affairs. An Ambos Nogales native, Karla returned home in 2026 to join BRN after serving as National Park Service Interpretive Education Ranger in California, Wyoming and Southern Arizona. Outside work, she enjoys live music, practicing yoga, hiking, exploring artistic endeavors and fitness classes, and spending time with loved ones and her orange cat, Vilma.
