Murphy's Bio

Murphy Hazeltine (they/them) has been with Borderlands Restoration Network since September 2025. Having originally joined the organization as a member of the Watershed Restoration Crew, Murphy transitioned to the Native Plant Program in August of 2026 to build a more intimate connection with the incredible flora of the region. As the Nursery and Seed Specialist, Murphy’s work ranges from plant propagation and seed processing, to supporting our generous volunteers and interns, to managing our commercial inventory and sales.
 

With a BA in Agroecology and Visual Arts from The Evergreen State College in Washington State, Murphy has a background in small-scale agriculture and seasonal production work. Having worked on a handful of small farms, fishing boats and family businesses across the American west, they developed a deep appreciation for what makes a place unique. This love for landscape diversity has kept them with their hands in the dirt, constantly learning and helping things grow. Originally from southcentral Alaska, Murphy now lives in Patagonia, where they enjoy nerding out on plants, walking their dog, and making art with friends.
