Leaving a gift in your will, estate plans, or even donating retirement assets are wonderful ways to keep your love for the borderlands alive for generations to come. By including Borderlands Restoration Network in your long-term plans, you help us continue our work to protect, restore, and reconnect the lands and communities that make this region so special. These planned gifts can also offer significant tax advantages, such as reducing estate taxes or allowing your heirs to avoid income taxes on certain retirement assets, ensuring your legacy benefits both the causes you love and the people you care about.
"During my life, I have watched rivers dammed, acre after acre of fragile desert destroyed for cities, or trees I grew up under chopped down. So I am putting everything I can into protecting and restoring as much of this as possible. In my view, Borderlands does an excellent job of this, working on both sides of the border, restoring and preserving landscapes and waterways, as well as making native plants available to the public so each of us can rewild the small bit of Earth for which we are responsible." –Anonymous donor who bequeathed her estate to BRN in 2024.

Charitable Bequests
A bequest is one of the easiest and most meaningful ways to make a lasting impact. You can include BRN in your will or living trust by giving a percentage of your estate, a specific dollar amount, or other assets. To make a bequest, simply let your attorney know what you would like to do.
Before you meet with your legal advisor, we invite you to download our Bequest Information Sheet. It includes sample wording that can be added to your Will or trust if you decide to make a gift to BRN.
If you decide to make a bequest to BRN, or have already done so, please let us know. We’d love to thank you and recognize you for your gift!
Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs)
A donor-advised fund works like a charitable savings account. You recommend gifts to organizations you care about, like BRN, and enjoy the tax benefits that come with it. You can make one-time, yearly, or recurring contributions from your DAF account.
You can also name BRN as the beneficiary of your DAF, either for a percentage or the entire balance. Another option is to name a loved one as your successor so they can carry on your tradition of charitable giving.
No matter which option you choose, your planned gift will help keep the borderlands thriving with healthy wildlife habitats, native plants, and connected communities for years to come!
