YEAR END CAMPAIGN

2023_year-end_banner.png

Dear Friends,

As autumn fades and winter nears, our landscapes drift into peaceful slumber to rest and rejuvenate before a vibrant awakening in spring. For us, it is a time to reflect on the past year and plan for the next to support these beautiful and important lands we call home.

This year we celebrate the discovery of a jaguar in the Huachuca Mountains, the first confirmed since 2016. Moments like these are invigorating and validate the importance of our mission and the restoration of our landscapes that are home to so many species, including threatened animals such as the jaguar.

To that end, we are undoubtedly grateful to all who have supported preserving and restoring the delicate ecosystems of the US/Mexico borderlands.

Over the past year, BRN has been busy restoring habitats, repairing and conserving the land, and inspiring minds to become passionate advocates for the environment.

We have successfully undertaken many initiatives including increasing our native seed production capacity through expanded growout fields at Borderlands Nursery & Seed which now encompasses 30 native species of plants for seed production— greatly increasing seed availability for the region.

The Watershed Restoration Program has installed nearly 1,000 erosion control structures in critical habitats across the borderlands through projects to preserve quail habitat in the Huachuca Mountains, repair severe erosion on conserved land in Canelo and on the Fort Huachuca Sentinel Landscape, while also enriching our own Borderlands Wildlife Preserve in Patagonia.

Education and outreach programs reached hundreds of participants on both sides of the border inspiring the next generation from youth to adults through immersive, hands-on learning to virtual and in-person workshops, and guided hikes at the preserve.

However, we have much more to achieve as challenges to the environment continue to grow and demand for services increases. We truly believe that together we can make a significant impact on the future of the borderlands.

As we approach the end of the year, we are requesting your support of our year-end campaign by making a gift of $25, $50, $100, or more! Your generous donation will directly support the growth of our ongoing restoration work, increase plant and seed availability, help rebuild wildlife habitat, and enable us to engage with borderlands communities in new and expanded ways to share the importance of ecological restoration and conservation.

On behalf of the entire team at Borderlands Restoration Network, we extend our heartfelt thanks for your unwavering commitment to conservation and ecological restoration. We look forward to partnering with you to rebuild, restore, and reconnect the borderlands.

Wishing you a joyous holiday season and a Happy New Year!

Sincerely,
