RoHAN's Bio

Rohan Sorta (they/he) has been working as a Watershed Restoration Technician at BRN since 2023. They spend most of the week working on building erosion control structures and surveying for future restoration projects, as well as seasonal tasks like spreading native seeds, monitoring at Borderlands Wildlife Preserve, removing invasive plants, and joining workshops to involve local youth and community members from the Sky Islands region. He also works with the Native Plant Program a couple of times a week, watering and weeding, working retail, and participating in occasional workshops. 

Rohan was raised in the Great Lakes area and moved to Patagonia permanently in 2021 after a few years of nomadic life with their wife and pets. He did direct support care before moving to gig work spanning from dog walking to landscaping and more. In 2023 Rohan joined BRN fulltime and has been passionate about our mission and the work we do in the region. He and their wife enjoy living in Patagonia with their dogs Theo and Ophie, who all love to go on outdoor adventures to camp and hike and birdwatch.
