TRAVIS' Bio

Travis Gerckens has been the Farm Manager at Borderlands Restoration Network since 2023, and has over 10 years of experience working at BRN. He lends a helping hand in many aspects of work on the ground for the Native Plant Program, but specifically manages our farmed native seed operations and assists with collecting foundation seed, hydro-seeding, and various other maintenance projects around the seed barn and nursery throughout the year.

 

Travis has an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts/Music, and studied botanical medicine in New York and California. Originally he’s from central New Jersey, and now resides just north of Patagonia. Travis first came to southern Arizona in 2013 to work as a farm apprentice on the Native Seeds/SEARCH Conservation Farm, when he volunteered as a citizen scientist for BRN and was later hired as a restoration technician. His interests outside of work include natural building, gardening, exploring wild places, and all things plants.
